Meet Susan Thiel, an esteemed designer and general contractor based in Dana Point, CA. With a penchant for exploration, Susan's adventurous spirit has taken her across the globe, fueling her creative curiosity and enriching her eye for detail, color, and materials. From four months at sea to a month-long hiking expedition in the Washington Forest, Susan's diverse experiences have shaped her unique approach to design.

Rooted in her upbringing in both Chicago and San Francisco, Susan was inspired by her mother, an award-winning designer, who instilled in her a deep appreciation for architecture and craftsmanship. Witnessing her mother's passion for building homes ignited Susan's own love for design from an early age.

After a successful career with a Fortune 100 company, Susan followed her heart and founded Susan Thiel Design in 2008, marking the beginning of an illustrious journey in the world of interior design and construction.

Madison is a dynamic member of our team at Susan Thiel Design. A graduate of the University of Oregon with a degree in Interior Architecture and Art History, Madison brings creativity and a deep understanding of design to her role. As a third-generation designer, she has always been drawn to the world of design, starting with creating floor plans for her dream home at the age of 10.

Madison's passion lies in forming meaningful connections and appreciating individual styles, making her a perfect fit for interior design. Her commitment to lifelong learning ensures she stays ahead of industry trends and delivers personalized, collaborative design experiences for our clients.

ABOUT AMANDA

Amanda is our administrative assistant at Susan Thiel Design. With a background in graphic design and four years of experience in the interior design industry, Amanda brings a unique blend of creativity and organization to our team.

Originally from Oklahoma, she has lived in various parts of the country before settling in California in 2018. Amanda is not only a dedicated professional but also a loving mother of three humans and two dogs. She finds solace and inspiration living near the ocean, where she draws peace from its serene beauty. Amanda's attention to detail, strong work ethic, and passion for design make her an integral part of our studio, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional service for our clients.

  1. Amanda is an avid reader and a true bookworm! Last year alone, she devoured an impressive 55 books. While she enjoys exploring various genres, fiction holds a special place in her heart.

  2. When she's not immersed in the world of design, Amanda is a dedicated barre instructor. With 13 years of experience as a practitioner and 5 years of teaching under her belt, she brings passion and expertise to every class.

  3. In addition to her love for design and fitness, Amanda has a knack for culinary adventures. She delights in cooking for her family at least five nights a week and finds joy in experimenting with new recipes and flavors.
